Breast reconstruction may have psychological benefits

The study determined women who had a mastectomy and underwent reconstruction using tissue from their own abdomen showed rapid improvements in psychological, social and sexual health after the procedure.

However, they did experience lingering physical problems in the area of the abdomen where the tissue was removed.

But, authors reporting in the journal Cancer say, the findings might prove helpful to breast cancer survivors.
