Report: Speed cameras would cover 47 percent of city

October 26, 2011 (CHICAGO)

An analysis of the plan by the Chicago Tribune reveals that 47 percent of the city would fall under the camera speed traps.

The mayor's office believes the speed cameras will ensure safety around schools. Critics say it's just another way for the city to raise revenues.

Lawmakers are considering legislation that would give Mayor Emanuel authority to use the cameras.
