LSD work to prevent another blizzard backup

The City of Chicago is taking action to try to prevent a repeat of the dangerous situation on Lake Shore Drive that occurred during the February blizzard.

Vehicles were stranded in that storm. Starting Monday, workers will begin installing two openings in the median along north Lake Shore Drive. Movable concrete barriers would be placed there and would only be moved out of the way in emergencies to allow vehicles to pass through.

During construction, the inside lanes between Armitage Avenue and Goethe Street will be closed in both directions.
