Things to do this November in Chicago

In November, the holiday season kicks into high gear, and that means seasonal favorites are back in town. Karen Vaughan, Director of Public Affairs with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, was in our ABC7 studio to highlight a few events and fun things to do this month.

1. SOFA Chicago + The Intuit Show of Outsider Art
- Friday, November 4, through Sunday, November 6
- International Sculpture Objects & Functional Art Fair
- The Intuit Show of Folk & Outsider Art
- Two art fairs under one roof at Navy Pier's Festival Hall

2. Exhibitions at the Chicago Cultural Center www.ChicagoCulturalCenter.org
- Michigan Avenue Galleries: Anotonia Contro - Ex Libris; Art Fox – Walls; Terrance Hannum - Amidst Our Throng
- Chicago Rooms: Write Now - Artists and Letterforms
- Admission: Free

3. Millennium Park Ice Skating
- McCormick Tribune Ice Rink in Millennium Park
- Location: Michigan Avenue, between Washington and Madison streets
- Open Friday, November 18, 2011, through Sunday, March 11, 2012, weather permitting
- Skate rental available for $10

4. 98th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
- Wednesday, November 23
- Musical performances and festive holiday music begin at 4:30 p.m.
- 5 p.m.: switch is flipped
