On Thursday night, hundreds attended the wake for 55-year-old Hester Scott.
Scott was a 25-year member of the police department. Last Friday, Scott was found beaten to death in the back yard of her South Side home.
Keshawn Perkins, 15, is charged as an adult for the crime. Prosecutors say he beat his grandmother after she caught him skipping school.
On Thursday, six days after Scott was found dead, her home was also broken into. Police say someone kicked in a back door and took a television.
