Investigators say officers saw a man trying to break into railroad cars near 26th and Western Monday night. He drove away. Officers followed the suspect to the Austin community where he abandoned his car and tried to run. That's when investigators say the suspect pointed a gun at officers, who opened fire in the 5300 block of West Harrison.
The suspect was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg. No officers were hurt.
