While many workers try to retire when they are in their 60s, a suburban Niles man has decided to retire at age 102.

Max Fabian is leaving AZ Industries in Northbrook. He has been working for the Anixter family, which owns the company, for four generations. Before that, he was a Chicago police officer and he served in the military.

Fabian could be the oldest working person in America.

On Tuesday, his bosses decided to throw a big party for all his years of dedication.

"In my heart I feel this is the beginning of a good ending. I want to thank the family of the Anixters for making my life an easy going, fine fitting, all the way to the end, God bless you," he said.

Fabian's work at AZ Industries included making bank deposits, picking up and delivering mail and keeping watch over the warehouse. His co-workers say he will be missed.
