Small plane may have run out of fuel

November 30, 2011 (RIVERWOODS, Ill.)

CONTROLLER: "Lifeguard 773, you are declaring an emergency?"

PILOT: "Yes, m 'am."

CONTROLLER: "Lifeguard 773, you still wanna land Palwaukee?"

PILOT: "Lifeguard 773, unable, we are out of fuel."

Three people were killed in the crash Monday, including the pilot Bill Didier of Wisconsin. John Bialek and his wife Ilomae, of Streamwood, were also killed. They had been living in Florida but after a hospitalization they decided to return to Chicago on the plane to be close to family.

Two other people survived the crash.
