Union workers rally outside Hyatt HQ

November 30, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The union and the company have not been able to come to terms on a new contract.

Union workers claim Hyatt has a proposal that would strip health insurance from Chicago hotel workers and their families, effective at the end of the year. Company officials say that is not true and they have taken action to prevent their employees from losing coverage.

Hyatt released a statement saying, "despite the fact there has not been a union contract in place for two years. Hyatt has paid 100 percent of healthcare premiums during this time and we will continue to do what is right for our associates."
