'Wheaton bandit' may get away with crimes

The so-called ''Wheaton bandit'' may get away with his crimes if he is not arrested and charged by Wednesday.

That's when the statue of limitations expires on his last known bank robbery. That happened at a Glen Ellyn bank on December 7, 2006.

The statute of limitations has already expired in 15 of his other alleged robberies.

The thief was named "the Wheaton bandit" because seven banks he is initially accused of robbing were in that western suburb.
