Four people were hurt early Friday when an SUV and a taxicab collided at the intersection of Clark and Randolph in downtown Chicago.

The cab took out a light pole, rolled over onto its side and came to a stop right next to the County Building.

Responding crews initially blocked the intersection completely, as well as the staging area at State Street and Randolph. Some traffic was getting through later Friday morning after the wreckage was cleared.

The accident, which happened at approximately 5:30 a.m., pinned in three of the victims. All were transported to Stroger and Northwestern Memorial hospitals in serious to critical condition.

The cause of the crash is unknown. Chicago police are investigating.
