Police say Deontae Malone was shot multiple times late Wednesday afternoon near 65th and Mozart in the Marquette Park neighborhood.
He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police are looking for a possible witness to the shooting.
His mother said she last saw Deontae around 4 p.m.
"I don't even know, I don't have an understanding," said his mother, Natalya Malone. "I wish someone could tell me because I don't even know who was with him. I mean I need someone to come forward and tell me something."
So far no arrests have been made. There is a $1,000 reward being offered for information leading to an arrest of the killer.
