African-American family sues Willowbrook for discrimination

January 4, 2012 (WILLOWBROOK, Ill.)

The Chicago Tribune reports Maxine and Pinkney James II and their adult son have filed a federal lawsuit against Willowbrook police and neighbors. They claim they were the victims of vandalism, attacks, hate mail and threatening calls.

The James family say police didn't do anything and sided with neighbors who tried to force them out.

The village administrator tells the Tribune town officials hadn't seen the lawsuit yet but would investigate the allegations.
