Eighty-five dancers ranging from ages 12 to 18 tried out Sunday for the School of American Ballet. The New York-based school is holding auditions in 20 cities, including three overseas, for its five-week summer program.
Only 200 of the more than 2,200 candidates who audition throughout the tour will land one of the spots.
The tryouts were led by legendary ballerina and Chicago native Kay Mazzo.
