Rivers Casino in northwest suburban Des Plaines was only open for half of last year, but it was still very profitable.

With that money, the state of Illinois increased its take from casinos for the first time since 2007.

In all, the state got more than $401 million in casino taxes for the year 2011, an increase from $384 million in 2010.

Revenues were down for several other casinos.
