Shelbyville suspect asks for public defender

January 11, 2012 (SHELBYVILLE, Ind.)

A judge entered not guilty pleas Wednesday for 35-year-old William Goode on charges of murder, burglary, robbery, theft and receiving stolen property in connection with the Friday stabbing death of Genevieve Kelly.

WISH-TV reports Goode arrived in court in a wheelchair because of a recent stab wound to one of his legs. Investigators have said they believe the injury occurred while Goode was attacking Kelly.

Goode has told police he didn't kill the woman.
