Alice E. Vesely, 65, of the 2700-block of West Fitch Avenue, is charged with two counts of felony aggravated battery to a child under 13 years old in the January 10, 2012, incident in the 600-block of West Willow. Police say Vesely was captured on a video surveillance camera abusing the eight-month-old boys.
Vesely is employed by the twins' parents as their caregiver.
The parents took the children to a doctor recently who found minor bruises. The doctor suggested they install a camera to record the nanny's treatment of the kids when they were gone. Those pictures allegedly show Vesely slapping, kicking, punching and smothering the infants.
A Cook County judge set bond for Vesely at $300,000.
Doctors at Children's Memorial Hospital have since examined the infants and determined they suffered no life-threatening injuries.
