Tinley Park mental health center to close

Governor Pat Quinn today announced plans to close the Tinley Park Mental Health Center.

The state run facility will close in July and will cost 175 people their jobs.

The governor will also close a center for people with developmental disabilities in downstate Jacksonville.

The governor says closing those institutions will save the state about $20 million a year.

Opponents say it will mean less care for those who need it and that the move will hurt local economies.
