CTA buses resume normal routes on Lake Shore Drive

January 20, 2012 (CHICAGO)

The buses had been detoured off the lakefront road due to a winter storm hitting Chicago Friday afternoon.

The buses were rerouted onto nearby surface streets. According to the CTA, "The decision was made based on weather conditions around 3 p.m. that included standing snow, blowing snow, reduced visibility and slick roadway conditions."

Hazardous conditions also led the Illinois Department of Transporation to close the ramps on Lake Shore Drive and I-55.
