Bryan Doherty says he and two friends were picked up early Sunday at Wrightwood and Orchard. When he told the driver they didn't have any cash, Doherty says the cabbie drove to Montana and Surrey. Then the driver reportedly got out of his cab with a small bat, coming after Doherty and his friends.
"I said, 'hey, you know, calm down, we'll take you or take us to an ATM," said Doherty. "Said take us there and we'll pay you cash with no problem with that. At that point he put the mini-bat away. I thought it was over and the next thing I know he had a can of pepper spray in front of my face."
Police do not have anyone in custody.
The cab company did not respond to ABC7's calls for comment.
