Beverly native killed in avalanche in Colorado

January 25, 2012

Chris Norris died when he was trapped in the small avalanche at the Mary Jane ski area near Winter Park. His body was found in a wooded area after he failed to meet some friends.

Norris was a married father of two young children. In 2002, he graduated from Mount Carmel High School where he played rugby. He moved from Chicago to Colorado to attend college.

"I think the hardest part is knowing he's not going to see his kids grow up," said Norris' widow Lynn.

Norris was the family's sole source of income. His 3-year-old daughter had been expected to ski with him on Sunday but came down with the flu.

Donations can be made at any Wells Fargo Bank to the Christopher Norris Memorial Fund. The money will be used to support Norris' family.
