15th Annual Aon Step Up for Kids Stair Climb

January 29, 2012

Among those racing up the stairs is our ABC7 resident runner, John Garcia. He joined us live on the air minutes after he crossed the finish line to talk about the important cause behind this event. John spoke with Tom Sullivan, President of Children's Memorial Foundation, and Rob Feldgreber, President of KIDSS for Kids (Kindness Is Doing Something Special for Kids).

The climb benefits the children and families served by the fundraising efforts of K.I.D.S.S. for Kids, an affiliated organization of Children's Memorial Hospital (link: http://www.childrensmemorial.org/), and the hospital's Family Services department. Six-year-old Children's Memorial patient Madison Dempsey, being treated for leukemia, served as the patient champion and officially kicked off the race.

The event is expected to raise $600,000 for the hospital's Family Services department.
