A man in Texas is recovering after having a brain tumor removed. It's how the tumor was discovered that's so unusual.

Alex Largent can thank his friend John Ippolito for discovering the tumor.

Ippolito is the lead tech at a diagnostic imaging center, and he needed to test a new computer program. So he asked Largent to be a guinea pig and undergo a brain scan.

That's when the tumor the size of a golf ball was discovered.

"That was the big calming point was, you know, he has done this so long. He knows that this can happen or that can happen," said Largent.

Doctors were able to remove the tumor before it could damage Largent's brain.
