Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. said he wants to turn the Pullman historic site on Chicago's Far South Side into the city's first national park.

He is introducing legislation for the proposed makeover to the House of Representatives later this week.

The resolution calls for a feasibility study into the development of the area around 111th Street and Cottage Grove.

If the study is approved by Congress, it could take up to three years to complete.

Congressman Jackson says the park will generate jobs and revenue.
