A tentative deal has been reached averting a possible strike that could have impacted dozens of refineries across the U.S. That includes the BP refinery in Whiting, Indiana.

A spokesperson for the United Steelworkers says the three-year deal will be taken to the local unions over the next few weeks for a vote. The current agreement expires at midnight.

Analysts had warned that a strike could have caused a rise in gasoline prices.
