Daily Herald: Debate over western access to O'Hare

What was once touted as a plan to provide access to the west side of O'Hare Airport -- complete with a new terminal -- has evolved into a plan financed by the doubling of tolls to run an expressway around the western edge of the airport -- if adjacent communities chip in $300 million for the project.

"We didn't sign up for a bypass," says former DuPage County Board Chairman Robert Schillerstrom. "We signed up for western access to the airport with a terminal and all of the economic benefits that you see on the east side."
