One person was killed and two others hurt in a crash along I-57 near 111th Street. It happened shortly after 3 a.m. The northbound lanes of I-57 were closed for several hours while the scene was cleared.
A short time later, a 24-year-old woman was killed when she lost control of her car and struck a tree along Lake Shore Dr. near 29th Street.
A passenger in the car, described by police as a 25 year-old man, was critically injured.
Illinois State Police say one man died and another person was critically hurt in a crash at I-290 and Austin.
The vehicle had just exited the Eisenhower Expressway when it hit a wall.
Both victims were taken to Loyola University Medical Center.
No word yet on what caused the crash.
