Docs: Blood clot risk not higher in coach seats

Travelers who fly coach frequently can rest easy; new guidelines from the American College of Chest Physicians show flying in closer, economy-class seats does not increase the chance of dangerous blood clots.

Crowded cabins are not the concern. The group says the real risk is failing to get up and move around during long flights -- whether flying coach or first class.

Those at higher risk include travelers who are obese, people who have just had surgery and those who have had previous clots.

The new guidelines are online in the journal Chest.
