Toews' car strikes CTA beam, Blackhawk unhurt

February 23, 2012 (CHICAGO)

He was not hurt and no one else was in the car, a 2009 Mercedes.

At 9:30 a.m., Toews struck the steel support beam as he turned eastbound on to Lake Street from Garvey Court in the Loop. His car, which has some front end damage, was towed. No other cars were involved.

When contacted via text by the Chicago Tribune, Toews replied, "it's nothing serious at all." He refused medical treatment. No citations were issued in the crash.

Toews was not scheduled to play Thursday's game against the Dallas Stars due to an upper body injury. However, he was headed to the stadium to cheer on the Hawks.
