Android phones owners are paying more for their apps, compared to the average price of an iPhone app.

PCMagazine.com reports that the top 100 paid Android apps have an average price of $3.74, compared to $1.47 in Apples' app store.

A study was done by the market research firm Canalys.

It found that Android apps are expensive, whereas Apple's market is more controlled.

Researchers attribute the price disparity to the companies' different marketing strategies.
