Some of the new machines were unveiled Friday at Union Station. The Ogilvie Transportation Center and the LaSalle Street station each have new machines as well.
Metra says the vending machines are easy to use. They allow customers to purchase one-way, 10-ride or monthly tickets.
Officials say the machines will help alleviate the long lines at ticket counters.
"So now going forward those customers will be able to step out of those lines, avoid those longer lines and come over here and transact their business to purchase their monthly pass using a credit card," said Alex Clifford, Metra CEO.
Thirty one of those same machines are already installed on the Metra Electric Line.
