Exercise benefits seniors

March 16, 2012

Researchers have discovered the most active seniors have a lower risk of dying compared to their sedentary peers.

Rush University Medical Center researchers measured the daily activity level of local seniiors in their 70's, and 80's over 10 days.

They were followed over four years and the seniors who were most active had about a 25 percent lower chance of dying.

Experts say physical activity is the most important thing that seniors can do to improve their health for the rest of their lives.

It can be as simple as increasing their activities around the house.
