Rogers Park murder victim's family gets $10M

March 28, 2012 (CHICAGO)

A lawsuit was filed against the building's management company and owner as well as her killer.

Melissa Dorner, 21, was killed in 2005 by Roberto Ramirez, who also lived in the building in the 6100-block of North Winthrop.

Ramirez is now in prison. Lawyers for Dorner's family say Ramirez assaulted another woman in the building two months before her death, and the building's onsite manager was told about it but did not follow up.
