American women less likely to exercise than men

April 13, 2012

Women average only about 18 minutes.

Current recommendations call for adults to get at least 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous aerobic activity most days of the week to ward off multiple health problems.

That includes an obesity related condition called metabolic syndrome.

The study in Preventive Medicine also found those who got at least 30 minutes were less likely to be depressed, less likely to have high cholesterol and less likely to have metabolic syndrome.
