According to the union, both sides have agreed to the appointment of a fact-finding panel, which will have 75 days to issue a report recommending terms for settlement of the labor contract. CPS and the union will then have 15 days to accept or reject the recommendation.
Union Pres. Karen Lewis says teachers are not looking forward to a strike, but given the hostile climate, it is imperative that they are prepared.
The contract expires June 30.
