Breast cancer may include 10 separate diseases
April 18, 2012 (CHICAGO) According to researchers, what we currently call breast cancer should be thought of as 10 completely separate diseases. Scientists believe this to be the case based on a very large international study that looked at the genetics of cancer in 2,000 women.
They also say the results will eventually help pave the way for more precise ways to diagnose the disease. Knowing which category the cancer falls into could help doctors determine which treatments will work and which will not.
