Money Smart Kids

The series of free educational activities helps young people learn how to manage their personal finances. The 2012 Money Smart Kid will be announced Monday, April 23rd. He or she will win a $5,000 scholarship from BMO Harris Bank. Two $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to the runner-ups, sponsored by COUNTRY Financial.

To tell us about the contest and give financial advice, ABC7 invited the 2011 and the 2006 Money Smart Kids (a href=http://www.moneysmartweek.org target="_blank">moneysmartweek.org) it our ABC7 studio. The 2011 DuPage winner, Ashraya Sreedhar, is a 7th-grader from Naperville. She gave advice for young people to invest. The 2006 winner, Aaron Lidawer, has since started his own business, RE-Cycle Rides (recycle-rides.com). The Highland Park high school student had tips for teens to started their own business as well.
