Joliet workers reject Caterpillar contract offer

Several hundred workers at Caterpillar's Joliet plant have overwhelmingly rejected a contract offer made by the company.

The seven-year contract between Caterpillar and the International Association of Machinists expires at midnight Monday.

The union represents a little more than a third of the workers at the plant.

The union says it is still meeting with the company to try and resolve the dispute.

The company calls the union vote unfortunate and says the contract offer was competitive
