Pacifiers may increase breastfeeding

April 30, 2012 (CHICAGO)

It's an unproven theory and now new research suggests the opposite may actually be true. Researchers at the 'Oregon Health and Sciences University' studied the records for over 2,000 infants.

They found giving a newborn a pacifier now and then may actually increase the amount they breastfeed. There was also an increase in newborns receiving formula when pacifiers were denied.

Researchers are hoping this study encourages more interest in the pacifier debate.
