Nineteen-year-old Karli Casey's 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer was eastbound on Northwest Highway Saturday night when it crossed into the westbound lanes and struck a 2006 Honda Accord, according to a statement from Palatine Police released Monday. Casey, her two passengers, and both passengers of the Accord were transported to area hospitals.
After being released from the hospital, police say, Casey admitted in a written statement to "huffing" a can of aerosol keyboard cleaner, causing her to pass out.
Casey has been charged with Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of an Intoxicating Compound, Improper Lane Usage, and No Proof of Insurance.
