United Airline pilots hand out flyers on safety issues

May 7, 2012 (CHICAGO)

They passed out flyers Monday at O'Hare Airport. They want United to restore salary cuts pilots made to keep the airline afloat in the wake of the September 11th attacks. The pilots say since then, United has outsourced flights to regional carriers and those regional carriers don't always hold pilots to the same standards as larger airlines.

"United pilots are in seemingly endless contract negotiations. The major sticking point of that is outsourcing and off shoring of our jobs, so we're here today to talk to passengers about that," said Hallie Mulei, United Airlines pilot spokesperson.

United issued a statement saying that it's committed to reaching agreements with all of their work groups but those agreements must be fair to the company and its employees.
