Night of Dessert Stars

YouthBuild Lake County's (link: www.youthbuildlakecounty.org) "Night of Dessert Stars" will feature Food Network's "Ace of Cakes" Duff Goldman and pastry chefs from Chicago to Gurnee. Among them will be Shebyll "Neecie" McGill, Front Office Manager and Educational Coordinator of YouthBuild Lake County/ Chef, who came into our ABC7 studio kitchen to show us how to make her Buttermilk Pie. Along with her came Laurel Tustison, Executive Director of YouthBuild Lake County, and Steve Blinderman, Board Member of YouthBuild Lake County/ co-Chair of Spring Benefit Committee/ Vice-Chair of Board.

The mission of YouthBuild Lake County is to help low-income young adults complete their education, learn the necessary skills to become gainfully employed, and build a hopeful future for themselves and their families.

Chef Neecie's Buttermilk Pie

Ingredients:
2 cups Sugar
3 TB Flour
1 TB Lemon Zest (optional)
4 Lg. Eggs
1 cup Buttermilk
1 stick Butter

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, flour and lemon zest.
Whisk in the eggs one at a time.
Stir in the buttermilk an dthe melted butter.
Bake until slightly brownded and the center sets.
Cook-time is about 30-45 minutes.
