Bridge renamed for late Chicago legend Terkel

May 12, 2012 (CHICAGO) A Near North Side bridge was renamed for Chicago literary legend Studs Terkel Saturday with a ceremony befitting Terkel's unique style.

There was music from a self-described circus punk rock band before the Division St, bridge near Halsted was dedicated to the late Pulitzer-prize winning writer.

The renaming is part of a series of upcoming events dedicated to Turkel in celebration of what would have been his 100th birthday this month.

Turkel died in Chicago in the fall of 2008.
