May 18, 2012

Keeping an eye on calories is not only safe for moms to be, it could even reduce the risk of dangerous complications.

According to a study in the British Medical Journal, mothers who minimized weight gain through a healthy, calorie-controlled diet were less likely to suffer life threatening preeclampsia.

Researchers say helping women with weight management had no ill effect on their babies. It also prevented complications including diabetes, high blood pressure and premature birth.
