Study links bald men, prostate cancer

May 22, 2012

Scientists are reporting that bald men who underwent biopsies of the prostate were more likely to have cancer than were those with more hair on their heads.

In the study from the University of Toronto, researchers say they are 95 percent positive that this is the case. Scientists say these men may benefit from being screened earlier and perhaps, if necessary, from being biopsied sooner. They say male hormones known as androgens play a role in both baldness and prostate cancer.
