Chicago Memorial Day Events to honor veterans

At the parade on Saturday, May 26, the grand marshal is CIA Director David Petreaus. He'll lead the parade with Mayor Rahm Emanuel. This year's parade honors especially all post-9/11 veterans. We had the pleasure of welcoming in our ABC7 studio veteran Rodrigo Garcia, as well as David Kennedy, Deputy Director, Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, explorechicago.org/dcase, and veteran Robert M. Malnik, Program Manager, Military Families, Childserv.

11 a.m.: Wreath-laying ceremony, Eternal Flame on Daley Plaza 12 p.m.: Parade - State Street, from Lake to Van Buren Grand Marshal: CIA Director David Petreaus

Special recognition of the of Gold Star families of Illinois during the ceremony and the parade.

Governor Pat Quinn: recipient of the Logan Award Major General John A. Logan Award: The recipient is identified as an outstanding individual whose "patriotism, leadership and selfless devotion to the men and women of America's Armed Forces and the City of Chicago who go above and beyond their civilian or non-civilian duties."
