Mayor Emanuel and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Thursday at a news conference that Chicago's Soldier Field could be a possible site for an outdoor Super Bowl.
When asked about the Soldier Field's seating capacity, which is 63,500, Goodell said seating is "always an issue." But the mayor said those details could always be worked out -- in the future.
Goodell was in town on Thursday as Soldier Field became the first NFL stadium to be certified "green" by LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, a standard monitored by the U.S. Green Building Council.
Soldier Field's 2003 renovation was followed by a number of environmentally friendly initiatives. Those included green cleaning products, electric vehicle charging stations and energy-efficient lighting.
There are more than 200 events held at Soldier Field every year. It is owned by the Chicago Park District.
