An arbitrator overturned the city inspector general's ruling and ordered that four firefighters assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau be re-hired and serve 40-day suspensions.The arbitrator also reduced lengthy suspensions for 44 other firefighters and allowed two supervisors to rescind their resignations.
A captain was ordered to serve a 40-day suspension and a lieutenant was handed 25 unpaid days off.
