Roy's Furniture plans to rebuild after fire

June 4, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Friday, crews cleared away what was left of Roy's Furniture following the fire.

A section of the building near the CTA's tracks will be torn down as soon as the business owners determine it will be done safely and without affecting rail service.

Once the rubble is gone the owners intend to reopen on the same site at Fullerton and Sheffield.

"It's gonna be a little bit more modern, contemporary," said Roy's spokesperson Johanna Parra. "it's gonna be like a newer version of what we currently have. We definitely will be planning a grand opening party."

Roy's owners want their customers to know they are still operating out of their warehouse in Pilsen, and deliveries are still happening. They plan to reopen by late summer or early fall.
