Indoor farmers market to open in downtown Chicago

June 7, 2012 (CHICAGO)

The new Farmstand Farmers Market at 66 E. Randolph will carry fresh produce and farm products, including baked goods from local vendors, every weekday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting July 9.

"The new market will offer fresh fruits and vegetables recently picked on nearby farms," according to a statement released Thursday. "Lehman's Orchards, Frank Farms and the Original Bleeding Heart Bakery will be among the vendors selling fresh products every day, while another group of vendors will offer their fresh wares on a rotating schedule, so that shoppers will find different offerings each day."

The indoor market will remain open through October.

The Downtown Farmstand opened in 2008. It has operated at a loss for the past three years, the release stated.
